Open Water Swim Clinic

Here is a link for you to print out for MapQuest directions. It is very easy to get to.

MapQuest for Windward Beach

Just a reminder: the clinic will start at 8:00am and is approx 1.5 hours long and will take place rain or shine. If there is thunder or lightening, we will delay the clinic 20-30 minutes.

Also here are a few quick updates about what to expect at the June 12th swim clinic: the clinic will be approx 1.5 hours, and take place rain or shine at the new venue in Windward Beach, (Challenger Way, Brick Township)

1. The water is in the low 70's. A wetsuit is recommended for the clinic, as we will be spending the large majority of the time in the water working on technique and getting you comfortable swimming with groups and without lane-lines!

2. The site is well protected from the wind and chop in most directions.

For the beginners: the course you will be swimming is shallow enough to stand, so be calm, you will be safe. We have instructors plus lifeguards to assist you. You will learn a lot and get more comfortable in the water; that is a promise!

For the intermediates: we have a great day planned for you which will include race tips and strategies, sighting, group swimming, and drafting to name a few things we will be covering. We will be on a separate course and away from the beginner groups.

3. When you arrive make sure you check-in at registration. Registration will be open on the morning of the event for day of registrations ($30), so bring a friend!

4. Bring a wetsuit, goggles, and a towel. Make sure your goggles don't leak and preferably have no fog lenses! We will have water for you, t-shirts and a lot of great advice. You can bring a bike or running shoes and make a day of it, as the area is great for training.

With regard to nutrition, please have breakfast a couple hours early before swim. Make sure you have a good dinner the night before, a good sleep, and breakfast prior to swim. The water is very clean and safe, but it is salty. Many triathletes often bring a little Listerine rinse to gargle with after swim to help clean and freshen the mouth.

We will start promptly at 8am at Windward beach, so please arrive a little early to be ready to go on time.

We are looking forward to a great day no matter what the weather. We have a great team assembled for you with a ton of swimming and triathlon racing experience.

Bike:  Transition can often make the difference between walking up to the podium or having another banana!

Let Dave show you how to go from swim to bike faster than you ever have before.

Learn the little things, including transition setup, bike mount and dismount, sock options, nutrition logistics on the bike and more.

Ride 25 miles as a group down into Island Beach State Park, and let Dave look at your position, pedaling technique, and provide helpful hints to encourage relaxing body and increased speed and comfort.

June 19th

Advanced Swim/Bike/Run

8:00 AM

We do it all over again as described above on this Saturday, but keep the bike ride on the Lava Man bike course to save a little time and allow us to focus on bike to run.

Dave shows you why he is not only one of the fastest runner's in triathlon, but also one of the toughest.

Learn how to approach the run while in the late stages of the bike.  Transition faster than you ever have with Dave's simple approach.  Then, spend time learning both the mechanical and mental approach to running in triathlon.

Learn how to adjust your stride off the bike when things don't feel so great.  Know what your body is telling you, and learn how to make the adjustments to settle in and finally discover the gear you knew was always there but just couldn't find early enough.

Do one or both and save!

$125 per session, both for $200
